Coppia Ferrarese Igp

The Coppia francese bread i san integral part of the culture and history of the city of Ferrara, as witnessed in ample biographies which witness the existing relation between the bread and the city. Through many happenings linked to poverty the history of this particular type of bread developed, and by 1200it was already wanted in the shape with 'orletti'. The original forms of the 'pane ritorto' have also been quoted in the Renaissance banquets of the Estense family. The bakers have contributed greatly in the preservation of the product up to our days.

 

Consumption

The Coppia Ferrarese is perfect with other dishes especially with extra virgin olive oil.

When packaged, the product can be recognized by a label bearing the logo representing a stylized loaf of bread on a blue background, with the writing "Coppia Ferrarese Igp."

La Coppia Ferrarese is made from two pieces of dough which are untied in a ribbon lie form in the centre, forming a sort of a fan at the extreme ends. Each form weighs 80 to 250 grs, the colour is golden and the smell is very appetizing
