Igp, standing for Pgi, protected geographical indication, is a quality label attributed to those agricultural products whose determined quality, reputation and any other characteristics depending on their geographical origin, and whose production and processing occur in a determined geographical area. To obtain an IGP label, at least one of the productive phases must take place in a particular area. Those who produce IGP products must follow the rigid productive rules established by the production specifications, and the respect of such rules is guaranteed by the control bodies.
