The Mediterranean Certification Institute for agrifood sector products and processes, established in 1995, is a non-profit association made up of C.R.A.A. (Consortium for Applied Agricultural Research); Unioncamere della Campania (Regional Union of the Campania Chamber of Commerce); E.R.S.A.C. (Campania Agricultural Development Board); Provincial Administration of Salerno; Region of Calabria; ALSIA (Lucana Agency for Development and Innovation in Agriculture); Region of Basilicata. Theex-officio members of  IS.ME.CERT. are UNI (Italian Unification Board) and UNC (National Consumers' Union).The statutory objective of IS.ME.CERT. is to contribute, also through the spread of voluntary regulation to guarantee quality, to stimulating the agrifood sector, particularly in the southern Italian regions.
